Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Cyber Boroda (vinurd) talks about the OpenSpace3D particle problem in this video. Unfortunately the video is in Russian and I don't understand Russian.

Some particle have problem. Particle 1PlasmaShader and rain not works.

Particle explosion have no problem.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

I have another question for pathfinding. Does it support adding new obstacle and navmesh dynamically? For example, will enemies be able to avoid a new obstacle if it spawns with the Instantiate plugin?

I'm also waiting to adjust the instantiate plugin and add the plugin decals but you're still busy with the other plugins.

Otherwise I can't wait to test the next beta.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Hello,

yes any physics objets are added as an obstacle (in theory).

Decal and instantiate will wait next release I think since make multi platform TTS and Reco take times ^^

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Otherwise I haven't found any other bugs or problems.

The video player works well but when it is created and it is not playing the screen goes black. It would be good when creating the video for it to display the 1st image of the video so that, for example, when the video created is paused, it would be possible to read, for example, a text which scrolls quickly at the start of the video.

For example, for a project I am trying to pause the video so that the player reads text on the video and when they press a button the video plays instantly.

Otherwise here is the example in question:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wk3MC8RArRo5-s8eHt-xFtoAs5ujal31/view?usp=sharing

I know that you can fade with the Fade In and Fade Out option with interface plugins but I haven't found how to do it.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Ok I add the display of the first video frame on load.
To make the fade in / out, on custom interface just set the fade duration parameter in the main editor (in milliseconds).

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Sorry to bother again. The Chased In and Chased Out option is also missing on the Plugit Crowd.

Otherwise, do you think you'll improve the physics for a future version? Because for the moment all objects are rigid and it is not yet possible to do soft body without going through the bones.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Hello, yes I also added this events in the crowd plugIT.

Work on the physics engine and soft bodies is not planned yet. I think I should choose another physics engine than newton since it's hard to maintain and heavily modified for OS3D.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

You should choose the Bullet physics engine, a free and open source physics engine found on many open source game engines.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

What is Android XR?

I know it's Android for virtual reality headsets but Meta's HorizonOS is already based on Android. Same thing for PicoXR headsets. Is this a way to unify the different Android systems for the XR?

An export for game consoles would allow us to reach even more people with the games and applications created but given the level of closure of game consoles I think it will be difficult unless we are registered in the Developer Portal of the different manufacturers but also because console manufacturers keep the code for exporting to console secret.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Hello, Android XR mean this is the export for Android VR headset using standard openXR loader. This is supported by pico4 with pico os 5.9 Pico special export will be removed later, this is used for older devices.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Does Android XR support older Meta/Oculus VR headsets like the Oculus/Meta Quest 2?

Thanks for fixing the freeze issues when loading instances. It should also be added to the instantiate user plugin (for each player connected) but I don't plan to create online multiplayer games or applications at the moment and there is still work to be done for the release of version 1.93. Maybe for a next version after 1.93.

I didn't test it yet for quest2 but for now Meta still provide their special openxr loader.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Arkeon has not yet planned a release date for beta 2. I hope that version 1.93 will be released this summer or fall. I can't wait for OpenSpace3D to reach version 2.0 but in some updates it should be there.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Speech reco / Text to speech is a bit huge to build with all dependencies... It take a lot of time to adjust the build scripts for multiple platforms. I will exclude this from the apple export for now, but once I get all other platforms built I will be able to make a new beta. I also hope to make 1.93 release before august vacations.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

One thing I start to think about is to remove support for old platforms.

is Windows 32bits is till needed for export ?
is Linux 32bits is till needed for export ?
is Android ArmV7 is still useful ?
Does anybody need the raspberrypi Zero ArmV6 ?

Removing this platforms could help to gain a lot of time ^^.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Windows 32 Bits will soon become obsolete with the end of support for Windows 10 in October 2025 and Windows 11 is only offered in 64 bits.

On the other hand, 32-bit Linux still needs exporting because some Linux distro continue to offer 32-bit versions.

On the other hand for Android ArmV7 and Raspberry Pi ArmV6 I don't know?

Concerning the export for the Rapsberry Pi it would be preferable to create an export for the Raspberry Pi 4 and 5.

You still have work to do before the holidays in August.

I don't really have any other requests apart from the decals plugit which can wait until version 1.94.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Yes removing Android ArmV7 seems to kill a big list of devices.
Windows 32 can be still used in industry...
For PI4 / PI5 I will need some devices to test but sure I will try to add linux arm64 when I'll have some time.

Re: OpenSpace3D 1.93 Beta

Regarding other systems, why not export to Chrome OS?
I don't know if there are applications specific to ChromeOS.

A long time ago I requested an export of OpenSpace3D application to FreeBSD but there are few users on FreeBSD unlike Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android and IOS.

I think it is better to use Android V7 especially for industry and for devices that do not require so much maintenance like touch terminals.

The addition of Linux Arm would be welcome. You should also think about adding export for ARM versions of Windows.

Fortunately for 32-bit Windows there is the paid service 0patch, a paid service which allows you to update old OSes which are no longer maintained by Microsoft such as Windows 7 and Windows XP and soon Windows 10. Otherwise for industry and businesses there is Windows 10 LTSC with an end of support planned for 2029 and Windows 10 IOT LTSC with an end of support planned for 2032.

By then I think that version 2.0 of OpenSpace3D will have time to be released.
