Re: Natural Markers

It seem nice, but the problem is that the licence is GPL: in two words, you can't use it in a commercial application.
As OpenSpace3d have an LGPL licence (notice the "L" as in "Lesser", less restrictive), we do not restrain our user to a non-commercial use... Scol have another licence, a bsd like licence, which does not restrain commercial usage neither.
BUT i'm not saying that it's not legit to do a scol plugin (and the corresponding openspace3d plugit) with this library, just that we cannot distribute it under the same conditions as OpenSpace3d: so we will keep the actual solution, as we have the right to distribute it in the core package. An additional plugin is doable, but the LGPL licence mention must be explicit, and the impossibility to use it for commercial usage too.
Everything is complicated when it comes to legal issues smile

Re: Natural Markers

Thanks for the link it could be useful and it's possible to contact the developer to discuss about the license.
Did you try the last update for marker detection ? (on the showcase)

Sorry, this is wrong !!

No, there is an error with the GNU GPL license in this project.
The GPL itself promote a commercial use.
Moreover, in the GNU FAQ, you can found it : https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.ht … mmercially

Finally, about the compatibility between the GNU LGPL and GNU GPL : https://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#LGPL
The licence of this project is the version 3 of the GPL. The two licenses are fully compatible. Of course, the part of code under GPL must comply with terms of the license : code source available, modify, publish and use.

In fact, i believe that " Another option is to contact us to purchase a commercial license.  " is an unfair term. I will ask for confirmation.

Note that the Scol license is for some parts of Scol (historical parts only) but it keeps outside to others extensions, like SO3Engine.

Re: Natural Markers

Well, i was right.

The license of this library is fully compatible with Scol license and the GNU LGPL 2 license. No problem, like others libraries already included in Scol.

If you want include this library in a closed-source projet (or with a no-compatible licence), the author may accept a specific license (with payments). In this case, you must contact him at the given mail above.

So, i don't see why you could not use it !!...
I already uses few GNU GPL librairies in Scol.
