Is there a way to have a 2D/flat image (say of the sun) and have it follow a path to move across the screen
It's not 3D Object so can't use the animate plugit and its not a static animation so can't use the frames feature for images.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

maybe you can use the object track plugin along with a custom interface using 3D position.

That's perfect. I've put the image as a material on a plane sphere and then using the object track to move it
