Error: All opensapace3D Augmented Reality APP Show Black Screen

Hello everyone,

The phone that I'm using is a Android A5 Samsung, based on ARMv7, OS Marshmallow (6.0.1), all the APP from openspace3D show a black screen when opening the camera, after loading screen (splash screen)

I've already tried to make a simple app with just the arcamera plugit to see if the camera is working, but when I run on my device there is also a black screen.

Please help me if possible

Re: Error: All opensapace3D Augmented Reality APP Show Black Screen

once you connect to logcat
add a filter to scolapp
and launch the app until you get the black screen
the log should gives some infos about the camera connection, I need this part to understand.

Re: Error: All opensapace3D Augmented Reality APP Show Black Screen

Hello Arkeon,

Thanks for trying to help solve the error, unfortunately since I'm not a technician, I'm having a hard time getting the log you need.

Report that the camera fails with applications generated with openspace3d, although the image or movie is projected the screen is all black!

I've tried other Augmented Reality apps and everyone opens the camera successfully!

I tried to get the log testing the "aLogcat" app but apparently these applications do not have the necessary rout access to these latest android models.

Is there a simple solution that works, to get the app error log, maybe you can indicate a Google Play Store app to download on android?

Any suggestion?

Re: Error: All opensapace3D Augmented Reality APP Show Black Screen

hello,

well you can try this:

edit the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Scol Voyager\androidDeployerTools\scolbase\package\assets\usm.ini
edit it with notepad

and replace first lines with
log yes
echo ffffff

export the app again to the phone
start the app on the phone

with a file browser on android goto the android/yourapp.name.com/logs

and send the files to my mail.
I'm not sure if it will gives any clue but it might help.

thank you

Re: Error: All opensapace3D Augmented Reality APP Show Black Screen

well from your log file, the camera seems to work.
but for unknown reason the render don't.

please try this (one at a time so if it's working we will know why)

- add a camera in scene, move the camera to 1 1 1 on x y z coordinates and apply it with the object / set active camera pluIT
- if you still have nothing, change the camera near clip to 0.1 and far clip to 100

- add the render / advanced raycast plugIT and disable it
maybe your phone don't like rtt...

- in case the green screen shaders make it fail, create a new project, add a mesh cube and add the arcapture plugIT
if you still have a black screen but see the cube this means the overlay shader don't work on your phone, if you see nothing not even the cube, we will have to dig further.

Well after several tests with AR capture, I could not reproduce your issue, all is working.

Did you updated the lastest OS3D android pack ?

Re: Error: All opensapace3D Augmented Reality APP Show Black Screen

Hello Arkeon,

I tested it with my app "greenscreen" and with your Google Store Game "BOOST MAZE", on a different mobile phone J5 2016
60.1

The result was a identical error,  showing black screen when augmented reality was activated!

It may be a mismatch of the manifesto for the Marshmallow Android?

No I think it can be a particular issue. But I can't find out if I can't reproduce it hmm
What is the language of your phone ?

Some devices have different hardware depending of the country but with the same model name.
European Galaxy A5 is working ^^

Hello,

After looking on Google, the black screen when you open the camer, looks an Android 6 (Marshmallow) Runtime Permissions Issue.

Sorry if I'm wrong "Upgrading android camera intent app to marshmallow runtime permissions"  https://youtu.be/Nt5GMaFUvog

Re: Error: All opensapace3D Augmented Reality APP Show Black Screen

Hello, get the permission at runtime is only compatible with Android 6, since OS3D is built with Android 4.1 for a largest compatibility I can't use this api yet.

The camera permission are set in the AndroidManifest.xml.in
You can edit the file with notepad edit the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Scol Voyager\androidDeployerTools\scolbase\AndroidManifest.xml.in

here the doc : https://developer.android.com/reference … amera.html
And test different permission to see if it can be the issue.

Also I have 2 devices on Android 6 and none show this issue hmm

I've been trying, making testes with the various demo and models in openspace3d, all plugits worked well except the camera plugit that keeps giving a black screen on my A5 Samsung

Thank you four your assistance, It may be a problem only of these specific phones, but I do not know what to do more, because these phones work well with all other applications

Re: Error: All opensapace3D Augmented Reality APP Show Black Screen

Just to eliminate an another possibility, when you get black camera, does the marker recognized ?
I mean show the ar marker to the phone, if you can see the object over the black camera, it means the camera is working but the shader that displays the camera don't.

Re: Error: All opensapace3D Augmented Reality APP Show Black Screen

Hello,

I tested your suggestions without any success. I tested also the simple "AR capture" PlugIT always showing the black screen after loading!

I've tried the AR apps on other phones with  Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and they all showed the black screen,
so we think it is not a defect of my particular phone
