Hello everyone,
I would like to share some important news about the future of OpenSpace3D.
On July 15, 2026, the I-Maginer Group and its companies Arinfo and ImagineXR were officially placed into liquidation. The company that created OpenSpace3D and funded its development for nearly 20 years has therefore ceased its activities.
As the project's lead developer since its inception, I will continue developing OpenSpace3D as an open-source project. I have also been able to retain ownership of the domain name and the main online services. The website, documentation, forum, and email services will therefore remain available.
However, the closure of I-Maginer means that OpenSpace3D no longer has dedicated financial support. Until now, the project's development was made possible through company-funded development time. Without a new source of funding, future development and user support will largely depend on the time I can dedicate to the project alongside my other professional activities.
My goal is to find a sustainable model that will allow OpenSpace3D to continue growing over the long term while remaining free and open source.
If you use OpenSpace3D, there are several ways you can help:
Share your projects and success stories.
Report bugs and suggest improvements.
Contribute code, documentation, or translations.
Help spread the word about OpenSpace3D.
Promote OpenSpace3D within your company, school, university, or professional network.
Simply share your ideas about the future of the project.
If your company or organization relies on OpenSpace3D and would like to support its future development, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Professional support, custom development, training, and consulting services can be arranged to help ensure the project's long-term sustainability.
I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to this adventure over the past twenty years: users, contributors, partners, teachers, students, and everyone who has helped build and support this community.
The story of OpenSpace3D is not over. It is simply entering a new chapter, and I hope to build that future together with all of you.
Thank you all for your trust, your support, and for being part of the OpenSpace3D community.
