tutorial openxr?

Is there a tutorial or could you point me in the right direction for openxr.

initially i just want to be able to use the quest controller to select from the menu.

I've got the oculus nation demo running so I know the connection will work

Is there an update to the guide to get me started?  I bought the book way back before the quest exisited

Thanks
Damian

Re: tutorial openxr?

Hello,

some video tutorials are planned but are not ready yet ^^

Here the fastest way to use the VR components in OS3D for any head set :

- Import your model.
- In the plugITs groups tab > right click and choose "import dynamic template" > "Generic VR" > "Vr controllers" >"Hands VR controllers - hands tracking enable"
- position the "dummy_start_pos" to set the initial player position.

Test and export the app on the quest, pico...

Re: tutorial openxr?

I'm really struggling with this one Arkeon.  For testing I have a simple custom interface with one button.  When you click the button it opens a URL.  I just want to be able to use the hand controller on the quest 2 to be able to press the button.

Any simple basic pointer would help.

Thanks
Damian

Re: tutorial openxr?

Hello,
using the "Hands VR controllers - hands tracking enable" template you just have to point the finger to trigger a ray on interface and click by touch.

you must use VR dialog interfaces (depending of the plugIT you use, some manage VR automatically)
for custom interface define the position and size of the main frame as a vr element.

Not sure the quest will open the url in a browser actually I didn't test that yet ^^

Do you  mean for the interface type?  Set to VR rather than 2D.  I can't see any specific setting in the frame options from the elements list?

Re: tutorial openxr?

The open a web page bit doesn't matter.  It was just for test purpose thought that would be a simple open url option.  I just want a menu that can select items via buttons to play a sound, video or show/hide a picture/text.

When I use a dialog box with the template it's really, really small.

Re: tutorial openxr?

To click with the hand tracking on quest, pinch a bit with thumb and index, the ray will show on interface. pinch totally or put your hand closer to the button with the ray shown to click.
With the controller touch the grip and rest the thumb on the buttons and raise the index, you can click with a button or by touching the ray closer.

Re: tutorial openxr?

you can try a menu on the hand or controller (template project review vr)
you can also use a 3D interface and position it in the 3D world using a dummy reference.

Re: tutorial openxr?

Hi Arkon,

So I'm a little bit further on and am now looking at moving around and say opening a door.

Looking at the tutorial "Generic VR Tutorial - Tutorial scene.

I can't see how the actions of grabbing the door handle makes the door open.  Can you point me at the links i should be looking at.

Thanks
Damian

Re: tutorial openxr?

be sure that you enable physics on your scene to use it.
to grab the door on quest use the grip button or the hands tracking

Re: tutorial openxr?

Physics is enabled in the physics settings option.

When you install this example on the quest you can even move towards the door to grab the key.
