where did you find this ? the scene3D demo ?
it's a mistake, this is a very old demo maybe something goes wrong on it
it should be cool if we could use * flag for all objects but it's not suitable.
for example it should mean the engine should compute world position of all scene objects and compute the distance using sqrt that can be very expensive in cpu time. A solution to make a detection area could be the use of physics shape to detect the physic bodies inside.
